Be The Change: Art for the Nations

This week for #bethechange month we spent the day volunteering with Art of the Nations. Art of the Nations is a group that sends bags of art supplies out to children in impoverish nations. Regardless of the opportunities a child has been given, everyone wants to create art and that is something Art of the Nations is well aware of. Jaimee and Payton went into the studio where they were greeted with an informational video on what Art of the Nations is all about. They then started painting the tote bags that would hold the art supplies given to the children. Everyone that volunteers is able to paint the bag in whatever way they see fit and it is so fun to see the way everyone has done it. After completing the bags they folded large pieces of paper that would be packed into the bags and then cut into paper dolls for the kids. After that they packed the bags with art supplies to be given out to the kids. Each painted bag was filled up with supplies that will be enough for 50 children to complete four art projects. Each bag costs about $35 and is something that can change their lives forever. In September the organization sent 164 bags to 12 different countries. 8200 kids enjoyed these bags!

You can volunteer at the Art for the Nations center by signing up at http://artforthenations.org/about-afn.php this is an awesome organization and one we will continue to give back to! We hope the kids love our bags just as much as we enjoyed creating them!
